For at least the last 40 years Kibworth has enjoyed a spectacular fireworks display. This involves a huge amount of effort and planning from the Kibworth & Fleckney Rotary Club and the Kibworth Scouts & Guides. Of course, it wouldn’t be possible without the support from the Briggs Family. They loan the field and build the bonfire.

The East Midlands is set to benefit from over £27 million of new funding to improve bus services over the next financial year, the Transport Secretary has announced on Monday 23 October. The statement says

Mother and daughter team, Janet and Sarah have always shared a love for homemade cakes. Launched in November 2018, we focused on selling seasonal cakes and mince pies were our best sellers! Five years on we are now supplying Bridge 67 Butchers with our range of cakes.

There have been some scarcely believable happenings in the natural world this year, both locally and nationally.

It was with deep regret that we had to cancel our ABBA night in October. This was due to circumstances beyond our control and we apologise for any inconvenience. We are hoping to re-schedule this event in the spring.

For many summers Dave Harris’s colourful sunflowers have delighted and amazed residents and passers-by in Kimberley Street, Kibworth. This year’s display (pictured here) was even more specular. Not just one flower atop the stalk, but stunning multi blooms appeared along its length climbing 5m (over 16ft) skywards from ground to roof top.  Well done Dave.

I recently read a copy of the Market Harborough Advertiser dated Monday 2^nd October 1854 and found a couple of items relating to Market Harborough and Kibworth that I feel sure will be of interest.

The first official census was in 1801, but the 1841 census, run by the new registration service, is regarded as the first modern census.
