Everyone at GEMS Charity would like to thank the family of Jack Harling for donations after Jack’s recent passing. Jack was a great supporter and fundraiser for GEMS. This included numerous head and beard shaves, being open gardens car park attendant and donating his small change. Jack was always there if we needed him and will be greatly missed. 

Patients are playing a more active role in managing their health and care. The drive to improve patient empowerment has been gaining momentum in recent times and providing visibility of their health information is a part of this movement.

Free Tree and Hedge Scheme

After our usual service in St. Wilfrid’s Church in Kibworth, members of the Mothers Union gathered for their October meeting in the Church Hall to hear a talk by Liz Scott on her recent experience of hosting a guest from the Ukraine.

On a Monday night, whilst football players are in the cold and rain under floodlights in the dark, I am glad to repair to the Sports Hall at Fleckney Sports Centre, Leicester Road, LE8 8BG. Table Tennis is the ideal low-cost winter sport for beginners and improvers. All are welcome to a free taster of table tennis on our club night on Mondays. General play is from 7.45pm – 9.45pm and coaching from 6.45pm – 8.15pm. Coaches, Andy and Miriam, are ready to help you develop your skills. Three of our members play in Leicester’s Junior League and two of our juniors play with our 21 adults in the adult League. Players range in age from eight to 74; so don’t be shy, give it a go. What’s the worst that could happen?

There's a bumper hawthorn berry crop this autumn. It's the biggest since records began 20 years ago, it's bringing a big boost for wildlife.

Over the last few weeks the band have been working hard on their chosen test piece for the LBBA contest on  Sunday 19 November. This is an own choice contest, which means that they have a free rein as to the piece of music they play. They have chosen Endeavour by a well known brass band conductor and composer, Philip Sparke. Held at Loughborough High School, the Band will be up against 11 other bands.

Scouts from Kibworth and across the Harborough District will be embarking on an international adventure in the summer of 2025. Our destination - Kandersteg International Scout Centre (KISC), 1200m above sea level in the Swiss Alps.
