Well, what a fabulous night we had at our Village Variety Show. It was full of talent, laughter and fun. After supper had been served, the show opened with Phil Lee singing ‘Bring Him Home’ from Les Misérables for which he received a standing ovation. What a great start! Next came sketches, funny poems, monologues and more wonderful singing, finishing with Phil again, this time singing ‘Nessun Dorma' which was amazing.

This year's Blaston Show is fast approaching. It takes place on Sunday 29 June just outside the village of Slawston, near Market Harborough. Attracting around 5,000 visitors every year, the show has been running since 1957 – and this year, weather permitting, visitors can enjoy a flypast from a Lancaster Bomber.

Alex Leger will delight us with his tales of producing the BBC’s Blue Peter programme with Peter Purves, Lesley Judd and John Noakes. He describes encounters with an erupting volcano, climbing windmills, gorillas in Uganda, a life-threatening storm at sea and LuLu the baby elephant who ran amok and created, arguably, the funniest moment in Blue Peter history.
