Kibworth Bowls Club - April 2024. Kibworth Bowling Club’s indoor carpet bowls season has now ended following some really enjoyable competitions. The Pairs League for the Hollingsworth Cup was won by Chas Clarke and Sharon Sanderson, after some exciting matches with close scores.  

Illston-on- the-Hill WI were privileged to host Sue Pulsford, a former police officer. The tales of her time in the force during the 1960’s left us both entertained and enlightened. Under the intriguing title ‘Heartbeat, I was there’, Sue took us on a nostalgic journey through her experiences as a pioneering woman in a predominantly male police force.

At our last meeting, the Kibworth Art Lovers enjoyed an evening of exceptional photography. Rutland photographer Richard Adams presented on the night.

Fleckney and Kibworth Running Club have had a busy month with a variety of events, awards and races.
Representing the club overseas was Emma Moore who successfully completed the Barcelona Half Marathon in 2:40:11.

This winter has been especially difficult as the Greenkeepers have battled relentlessly against the elements to keep the course open as much as possible. However, spring is upon us, and we can now think about de-mudding the golf clubs in readiness for the season ahead.

‘Myths of Middle Eastern Dance’ by professional belly dancer Roxanne Dinsdale is the subject of our third Tuesday Social talk on 19 March . The venue is Kibworth Community Hub (formerly Kibworth Grammar School) and start time is 2pm. Guests welcome.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday 4 April at the Methodist Chapel Hall. Doors open at 2pm for a cup of coffee or tea and a chat with other members, followed at 2.30pm by a talk given by Mark Goddard entitled ‘Spring Colour in the Garden’ There will be plants for sale too.

As reported in last month’s Kibworth Chronicle, the main focus of the Band’s rehearsal schedule was the Area Contest which took place on Sunday 2 March at Corby Business Academy.
