Usually at this time of year everyone is getting ready for Christmas celebrations. In Gumley that usually means a Nativity or Carol Service and a Christingle Service, in St Helen’s our beautiful church.

I note that local parents and parish councillors have been informed and consulted on a school’s governing body’s intention to work towards joining a multi-academy trust before the end of the current school year.

I write this to give overdue and public recognition to a member of Kibworth village, who has made a significant contribution to the well-being of our local community over many years, indeed decades!

Remembrance Sunday and Remembrance Day 2020 were marked in a different way this year. This was due to the nationwide Covid virus restrictions in place.

The churches together Christmas card for 2020 is a beautiful reflection of Hope, kindly created by local artist Elizabeth Scott.

 For the third time the poppies, which we knitted back in 2018, have been installed in St.Wilfrid’s Church. The Rector asked us to put them up on 3 November, ready for the pre-recording of a Remembrance Day service. This service, along with other services during lockdown, can be viewed online on the church’s YouTube channel.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, this year’s service was pre-recorded and made available on St Wilfrid’s YouTube channel.
