Kibworth Mead Academy News

We are incredibly proud to be recognised by the Pearson National Teaching Awards for the second year in a row in the Secondary School of the Year category.
This accolade has been awarded for our continued rapid journey of school improvement. It also acknowledged all the work our wonderful students have done with the community.
Supporting the Local Community
This has included:
- A huge array of charity events, including three whole-school charity walks, covering the equivalent distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats and raising more than £5,000 for The Well.
- Donating more than 100 hampers containing food donations to the local community.
- Building connections with primary schools through activities ranging from students delivering sports days at local schools and hosting city school sporting events, to performing the school musical for primary school audiences.
- Hosting a community-wide mental health event designed to provide support through signposting and practical advice.
- Tree planting to support community efforts to reduce localised flooding.
- More than 50 students each year taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and making a significant contribution to the local community through volunteering.
- Working closely with the Harborough Anti-Bullying Alliance to ensure support both within and beyond school.
- Welcoming local community groups into school through initiatives such as reading buddies and mock careers interviews carried out by local residents. All students meet at least ten different local employers each year.
- Hosting a range of parental events designed to provide support, including a recent SEND support group focused on helping parents support SEND students at home.
- Maintaining close connections with local residential care homes through activities such as Christmas carol singing and Easter egg deliveries.
