Dear Editor – Community Library congratulations

Kibworth Community Library celebrates its tenth anniversary this month, a milestone that speaks to the determination, generosity, and community spirit that have kept it alive.
I moved to Kibworth in 2012 with two preschoolers and one of the things that drew me to the village was the library.
Every week I took my boys in and we would leave with armfuls of books for bedtime reading.
Less than three years later, when the county council consulted on reducing community services, I went along to meetings determined to help keep the library open.
That enthusiasm led to me becoming a trustee, volunteering alongside some true stalwarts of community-driven work.
Some years later I needed to step down as I was no longer able to contribute my time in a meaningful way, but many of those first and early trustees remained and have continued to ensure the future of the community library, which has flourished under the mindful stewardship of a committed few.
Today, the library proudly sits in its new location and is thriving thanks to the dedication of those early trustees and volunteers who have given thousands of hours to keep it going.
They have protected a space where children discover stories, where imaginations grow, and where a lifelong love of reading begins. To those individuals, the ones who stepped forward, who stayed, and who quietly keep the doors open, thank you. I see you. You know who you are. Here’s to the next ten years.
