Our Village Our Voice
Residents on the Cuckoo Drive development recently received a letter outlining a proposed building plan for Manor Oaks Homes on Warwick Road, bordering the railway line, opposite Churchill Road / Kibworth Meadows. This would cover approximately 81 acres of green fertile land with a possible access from Wistow Road or Warwick Road. This would be a mixed scheme of approximately 550 dwellings and a space for a primary school.
A public exhibition – it is called a ‘consultation’ – was held on Thursday 12 April at Kibworth Cricket Club.
HOW MANY VILLAGE RESIDENTS RECEIVED INFORMATION? DID YOU ATTEND TO VIEW THE PLANS AND ASK QUESTIONS?
An Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Request has been submitted to evaluate the potential effect of this very large scheme on our village resources and access roads.
The Kibworths have a long history of being a close-knit caring community supporting local residents, businesses, clubs, youth activities and conservation of its surrounding countryside.
Are we fighting for the survival of our village environment?
We need to encourage realistic house building whilst protecting the natural surroundings. We are facing the prospect of yet more traffic on our country lanes, longer queues to get in and out of the village, more pressure on already over subscribed services and even more pollution!!
This size of development is aimed at boosting developers profits and not respecting existing human and ecological co-habitation in a sustainable way.
USE YOUR VOICE BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!!
