A new year, a fresh, clean start! It’s like having a big white sheet of paper to draw on! A day full of possibilities! It’s a magical world, Hobbes, ol’ buddy… let’s go exploring!” Bill Watterson, It’s A Magical World: A Calvin and Hobbes Collection

Calvin and Hobbes was a very successful comic strip. It was about a precocious, adventurous, six year old boy (Calvin) and his stuffed toy tiger, Hobbes, who “comes to life” after being caught in a tiger trap baited with a tuna sandwich.

The strip was featured in over 2,400 newspapers around the world. It included stories full of naughtiness, fun, love and friendship, interspersed with touching moments and life lessons. Maybe we can learn from them and use the New Year to make a fresh start and try something different?

Our Children’s Story and Rhyme Time on Tuesday mornings is very popular but the small team that run the group has shrunk. If you have experience with teaching young children or working in a nursery would you be interested in joining them? It would only be for half an hour every few weeks. If you would like to know more, please contact us on volunteering@kibworthcommunitylibrary.org.uk – thank you!

We have a Book Sale on Saturday 10 February from 10am till 12pm. As usual, lots of great quality fiction very kindly donated by the community. We have crime/thriller, young adult, sci-fi and fantasy, author book bundles, gardening & natural history, art, crafts and hobbies, poetry, and drama on offer – wow!!

Please don’t forget we are still offering free hot drinks to anyone who comes in during the winter. See our opening hours below. You will be made to feel very welcome.
