Kibworth Harcourt Parish Council May 22

The parish council held its annual and parish meetings on 5 May in the Studio at the Kibworth Grammar School Hall.

Cllr Feltham was re-elected chairman of the Parish Council and Cllr Tillotson was re-elected, Vice-Chairman.

Cllr. Feltham explained that Stephen Beasley had agreed to work as the full-time Grounds-person as Deena Sumpter had resigned for personal reasons.

He also confirmed that the lamp columns on Main and Albert Streets have now been tested prior to continuing the project to mount vehicle-activated speed signs in due course

No reason to remove buses

Leicestershire County Council: No formal reasons have yet been provided by the Department for Transport for the failure in the council’s bid for money to improve the bus services. It is really important that buses are used to help retain those services currently available.

Harborough District Council: Fly tipping has reduced for the third year running; this is due to people reporting to HDC Tip Off. The £150 rebates are now being paid to those paying by direct debit and in tax bands A to D.  More Ukrainian families are being hosted in Harborough District than in any other part of the county.

30 tree Orchard is planted

Joint Recreation Board. The inclusive play equipment for Smeeton Road is due to be installed in August. Funds for the new tarmac path across Smeeton Road Rec have been received and it will be completed in the summer. The bid for a pond for Rookery Park needs an ecological survey to check for live fauna. Work is progressing with preparing bids for a zip wire, skate park and trim trail. The new 30-tree Platinum Orchard has been planted on Warwick Road

Joint Burial Board. S106 funds for the new fencing have been received and a date for installation by Kibworth Fencing is awaited. The bid for new tarmac paths is being prepared. The iron fencing between the main cemetery and natural burial areas has been painted.  An extension of the cremation area is needed.

Grammar School Hall / Community Hub – Plans have been submitted to HDC (22/00873/FUL) and a decision is expected in June.

Queen’s Platinum Jubilee – The council approved a share towards a commemorative plaque to be installed on the Platinum Orchard site at Warwick Park. A grant has been received from HDC for a new bench to be installed in Larkswood Platinum Park.

All financial statements, reconciliations, summaries, and shared costs with KBPC were approved.

The Clerk reported that all councillors had finally been included in the bank mandate.
