It’s been a busy few weeks for the club as we continue to enjoy the warmer weather and countryside for our regular club runs, and our members have been busy taking part in events around the county and beyond

Regency 10k

Steve West took part in the Regency 10k at Leamington, completing the distance in a time of 1:21

Boston Marathon

Kirit Patel travelled over the water for Famous Boston Marathon, and by completing this also earned a coveted Marathon Majors Six Star Medal. This is awarded to runners who complete marathons in Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York

Leicester’s Big 10k

Four of our members took part in this local event, in and around Abbey Park. Andy Kemp 1:01, Tracey Coates 1:05, Steve West 1:07 and Jenny McNair 1:17 made up the F&K quartet

Longhorn Challenge

The Longhorn event offers runners a choice of distances from 5k to 60k, all set in Sherwood Forest and the grounds of Thoresby Park near Newark. Kirstie Faust completed the half -marathon in 2:25 while Pete Bennett took on the 60k challenge and finished 10th overall with a time of 5:53

Guisborough 3 Tops

Sam Pole also enjoyed some fine surroundings in North Yorkshire for a 10 mile fell run with over 2,600 feet of ascent, finishing 38th of over 280 runners in a time of 1:20

Birmingham Half Marathon

Chris Lydiate took his place in the Great Birmingham Run and secured another sub 2 hours run in 1:59

Wye Valley Trail Half Marathon

Tracey Coates was off road for her latest event in the stunning Wye Valley for a hilly challenge, with over 700m of ascent

Inter Counties Fell Running Championship

Sam Pole was back in the hills, this time representing Leicestershire & Rutland at the Inter Counties Fell Running Championship. A superb effort in a highly competitive field saw Sam take 61st position overall in a field of 150+ runners and second of the county quartet

Run Rabbit Trail Festival

Several members took part in this two day event, with options for running five different 5k trail runs, a 10k hilly twilight run and a testing Half Marathon. Pete Bennet took part in all the events, finishing 5th male overall

Other club events have included a Pub Run from Gumley, followed by excellent food, drinks and service at The Bell Inn. Several members also enjoyed a club camping and running trip to Beddgelert, and we held our AGM at the Pug & Greyhound in Great Glen following a club run
