“There is no such thing as a child who hates to read; there are only children who have not found the right book.” – Frank Serafini

In 2021, almost 6% of children and young people said they didn’t own a book of their own – this equates to 413,068 children and young people in the UK. A sad statistic, as children who do own a book are six times as likely to read above the level expected for their age and are three times more likely to enjoy reading.

Baby reading
Start them reading early

We love getting children involved in activities at the library, whether they are listening to a story, selecting books or building fantastic creations out of Lego.

Library membership is free and children can take out up to 24 books at a time. Plenty there to keep them interested in reading! Just come in with some identification to sign them up.

Become part of our team

If you have experience of working with children, would you be interested in becoming part of our team, either helping out at Children’s Story and Rhyme Time or our Lego Club? Please contact us volunteering@kibworthcommunitylibrary.org.uk on for more information.

Do your children have a lot of books that they no longer want? We’re looking for good quality books ranging from toddler to teenager to add to our collection of sale books. Please bring them in during our opening hours.
