St Wilfrid’s New Bell Ropes

St. Wilfrids Kibworth

Back in June 2021, the ropes for all eight bells in St Wilfrid’s Church were replaced, supplied by local company Ellis Ropes Ltd. of Loughborough.

Bell Ringers Raised the funds

The money was raised entirely by our own ringing team from wedding fees, donations from events and visiting ringers. They ring the bells at both Kibworth and Saddington churches.

St Wilfrid’s Church was able to reclaim the VAT as part of the Listed Places of Worship Scheme.

New Ropes

The ropes were last replaced in 2000 as part of the millennium fund grants – 20 years is very good going and for the past five or so years the team have relied on donations from other local towers to splice new parts onto the existing ropes in order to keep the tower ringing!

Thank you to Graham and Greg for organising the lovely new set of ropes.

The ropes were delivered about a year ago, however Covid restrictions meant that they could not be fitted until June 2021.

Since then, ringing has gradually resumed at both churches when Covid restrictions have allowed. However, the team is greatly reduced and now incorporates an Oadby team in order to continue.
