Kibworth Cricket Club – A Summer of Sport Awaits
Awake! The cricket season is upon us.

As the great Don Bradman once said, “May cricket continue to flourish and spread its wings. The world can only be richer for it.” That sentiment rings true once again as Kibworth Cricket Club prepares for another exciting summer.
Early fixtures see Kibworth’s senior sides take to the field across the opening weekends of the campaign, with all four men’s teams and two women’s teams looking forward to a competitive and enjoyable league and cup season ahead, before our juniors kick into action in May.
Training is already underway as we continue to develop the next generation of players, with sessions taking place throughout the week across our age groups. From All Stars and Dynamos for younger players, through to structured training for U11s, U13s, U15s and U17s, the club remains committed to creating a fun, inclusive and developmental environment.
Senior training also takes place weekly, with strong attendance building as players prepare for the season ahead and continue to develop their game.
With six senior teams and a thriving junior section representing the club, supporters can look forward to a summer full of runs, wickets, and, inevitably, the occasional ‘interesting’ LBW decision!
Work From Home…From the Boundary Edge
A unique feature of the summer at Kibworth is our hosting of external cricket fixtures throughout the season. These matches provide a fantastic opportunity for the wider community to enjoy high-quality cricket during the week. With more people working flexibly than ever, why not swap the home office for the clubhouse? Bring your laptop, grab a coffee, and enjoy a day’s cricket from one of the best vantage points in the area.
Fixture dates for these matches will be published via our social media channels, so keep an eye out and make the most of cricket in the sunshine.
Showpiece Event – Metro Bank One Day Cup

The standout date this summer comes earlier than usual. Kibworth Cricket Club is proud to host a Metro Bank One Day Cup match on Wednesday 22 July, featuring Leicestershire County Cricket Club taking on Gloucestershire. This prestigious fixture places Kibworth firmly on the county cricket map and promises a fantastic day of professional sport in the heart of the village.
However, hosting an event of this scale requires significant support.
Volunteers will be crucial, particularly given the timing in the height of summer. From stewarding to hospitality, parking to general event support, there are a wide range of roles available.
Volunteering not only helps the club deliver a successful event but also offers a unique opportunity to be part of the action and enjoy the match from behind the scenes.
A Summer for Everyone
Whether you’re a player, parent, supporter, or simply someone who enjoys a good afternoon in the sun, our club offers something for everyone.
But beyond the cricket itself, what truly defines the club is its culture and behaviours.
Cricket grounds can be busy and, at times, dangerous environments. Hard balls and fast-paced play mean awareness and respect are essential, particularly for younger visitors. We therefore ask all members and guests to play their part in keeping the club safe and enjoyable for everyone.
This includes some simple, common-sense guidelines:
- Children should be supervised at all times
- Please keep clear of the square, sight-screens and covers
- Respect the playing areas and facilities
- Rubbish belongs in the bin, and glasses returned to the bar
Alongside this, we expect everyone to uphold the standards that define our Cricket Club:
- Respect for players, officials, volunteers and fellow members
- Supporting junior players and leading by example
- Creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for all
- Quite simply, we ask everyone to Do The Right Thing (DTRT).
- By maintaining these standards, we ensure the club remains a place where people want to spend their time – whether that’s competing on the pitch, enjoying a drink on the balcony, or bringing family and friends to be part of the community.
- Because at KCC, cricket is just the start of the story.
