Proverbs are intended to be little nuggets of wisdom that, some claim, offer knowledge and advice. Additionally, they teach or reinforce morals, state a point of view or offer an argument, aid understanding and, states one website, ‘console or inspire others’.

It is that time of the year when there is a need to check when the last green bin collection is to take place before the winter hiatus. For all those subscribers Harborough District Council will continue to collect your green bin garden waste up to and including the week ending Friday 22 November for those on the YELLOW chart schedule.

Players from Kibworth Cosmopolitan’s Rounders Team have raised more than £600 for Cancer Research UK.

We held our annual presentation evening on Saturday 19 October at the Crown Inn, Tur Langton. A sumptuous carvery, followed by a delicious cheesecake dessert was enjoyed by all. President, Jill Davies, made the awards to our players. Malcolm Moss was our Champion of Champions for the second year running. Jackie Arrowsmith was our Ladies Champion (both pictured with Jill Davies, President of Kibworth Bowling Club).

Kibworth Harcourt Post Mill will again be displaying seasonal Christmas lights hopefully from Saturday 28 November. There were sightings of the lights from as far away as Gumley last year. The planned opening for visitors next year is over the weekend of 10/11 May 2025, (National Mills Weekend). Put this into your diary/calendar if you wish to visit. Further details will be given nearer the date.

As the season draws to a close, the course is once again looking spectacular in its vibrant autumnal colours. The Captain’s Presentation Evenings have been a wonderful success, and the Vice Captains for next year have been announced.
