Kibworth Village Hall 7 for 7.30pm - Tickets only £5 (cash or card)

On Sunday 1 June from 11am - 5pm, ten private gardens in Foxton will be open to visitors. Gardens range from large to small, established to new, classic to quirky! Weather permitting there will also be a display of classic cars. Refreshments will be available in the Robert Monk village hall. Admission is £5 (children under 16 years of age free). “What’s in a name?”

The facelift given to Smeeton House over the last few month is impressive.

We held our 20th Bluebell Open Day at The Old Rectory, Gumley, on Sunday 27 April. And for once had absolutely perfect conditions for it. After last year’s drizzle and notwithstanding the fortitude of the 300-odd brave patrons who came then, this year felt like a Chelsea garden moment. The recent cold nights holding the flowers back so that they peaked just at the right time.

Kibworth Primary School is thrilled to announce that we will be opening our very own pre-school. We're set to launch in September 2025. This new addition to our primary school provision marks a significant milestone for our school and the local community.

Our annual Charity Golf Day this year is Friday 22 August at Glen Gorse Golf Club, Oadby. Teams of 4, £220 per team. This will again include bacon roll, coffee on arrival, 18 holes of golf followed by a meal. Afterwards with team and individual prizes. We will also be having a raffle. So if you are able to donate a raffle prize please contact me on my email. I will be happy to collect. This year we are looking for local businesses to have an opportunity to become sponsors for the event.

At the commencement of last month, the nominations for the County Council elections were officially closed. The entire county of Leicestershire, comprising 55 seats, was subject to the electoral process. The Kibworth & District Chronicle solicited written hustings from all local candidates, with the intention of publishing them in the April edition. Regrettably, only two candidates endeavoured to provide a hustings of approximately 250 words, which was subsequently printed. This begs the question: are these candidates heavily reliant on social media platforms or leaflet drops for disseminating their messages?

She was an inspiration to so many people from all walks of life and a wonderful friend to everyone at Last Minute Theatre. There was nothing she wouldn’t do (double negative intended!). Many memories of course, from singing, to drama and to comedy.

Now a quarter of a century old. It is to be found along Langton Road, Foxton and it a wonderful lasting display. It's the Foxton Millennium Avenue.

In those halcyon days during the early part of the last century, when everything moved at much slower pace, village life seemed to remain pretty much unchanged for generations. Farmers worked the land and, in most cases, brought their families up to follow suit. One such place where this pattern appeared to continue is the beautiful village of Carlton Curlieu.

Visit art studios in Harborough and nearby villages to view paintings, jewellery, collage, sculpture and glasswork to meet and talk with the artists. This is an opportunity to view the wonderful creative work of twenty eight local artists on display.

Alex Leger will delight us with his tales of producing the BBC’s Blue Peter programme with Peter Purves, Lesley Judd and John Noakes. He describes encounters with an erupting volcano, climbing windmills, gorillas in Uganda, a life-threatening storm at sea and LuLu the baby elephant who ran amok and created, arguably, the funniest moment in Blue Peter history.
