Our April speaker, Yuko Dixon, entertained us with an interesting and enjoyable evening of Japanese food. She began by telling us a little about her background. She lived in the USA before moving to the UK about 18 years ago. She set up her “own little world”, as she put it, with a background in marketing helping her to establish her business. As well as giving talks and demonstrations to groups such as ours, Yuko goes to people's homes to cater for parties and special occasions. She also teaches the art of preparing Japanese food to small groups.

Andy Shore describes himself as a self-taught artist who likes to dabble with all painting mediums, but it was his personal watercolour technique that he demonstrated to the Kibworth Art Lovers in our April meeting.

June brings our footballing event for girls back for its second year running. The four dates offered throughout June are FREE to attend taster sessions hosted by Kibworth Town FC (see below for details). Our vision is to increase the profile of girls playing football and to increase opportunities to play for fun, fitness, skill development, friendships and team building.

Our County FA recently approached Kibworth Town FC to discuss setting up a disability football programme.

After our good result at the Area Contest, we have had our celebrations and are now back to reality and thinking of financing for our trip to Cheltenham in September. To this end we are looking at a concert with the Youth Band in June and another Proms Concert in conjunction with The Well later in the year.

Our next meeting on Saturday 18 May will be the Annual Plant Sale from 10.00 until 12.00 noon.

Kibworth Bowls Club - April 2024. Kibworth Bowling Club’s indoor carpet bowls season has now ended following some really enjoyable competitions. The Pairs League for the Hollingsworth Cup was won by Chas Clarke and Sharon Sanderson, after some exciting matches with close scores.  

Illston-on- the-Hill WI were privileged to host Sue Pulsford, a former police officer. The tales of her time in the force during the 1960’s left us both entertained and enlightened. Under the intriguing title ‘Heartbeat, I was there’, Sue took us on a nostalgic journey through her experiences as a pioneering woman in a predominantly male police force.

At our last meeting, the Kibworth Art Lovers enjoyed an evening of exceptional photography. Rutland photographer Richard Adams presented on the night.

presents at Kibworth Community Hub (formerly Kibworth Grammar School Hall) on Saturday 27 April from 7.30pm the experienced four-piece fun band ‘The Smiler’ consisting of four locals. The lead guitarist is from Foxton and plays tennis at the club. They will be playing classics and anthems from the 60s onwards. Music definitely to make you smile!
