KAS were very happy to welcome some volunteers, for a second year, from Gateley RJA in Kibworth to help with projects around our site.

The Rotary Club of Kibworth & Fleckney has agreed to support the recently formed Ukrainian Rotary Impact Club of Rutland. Their inaugural project has been launched in support of those in need of medical equipment in Ukraine. The club was founded by a group of fifteen very enthusiastic and inspiring people fleeing war, all with different backgrounds and from different cities in Ukraine.

Our group continues to meet every third Wednesday of the each month, at Kibworth Cricket Club, from 7.30pm. We have had some lovely sessions over the last few months, from education on nutrition to bringing out our competitive side in table top skittles. Last month we held an ‘evening tea’ and raffle. We had some wonderful cakes and prizes, all kindly donated by members and businesses in the community. The money from the evening was a marvellous £345 which is on its way to LOROS hospice.

The newly formed Kibworth & District Heritage Society (which hopefully will incorporate the currently dormant Kibworth History Society) recently ratified its constitution at a special meeting on Thursday 28 August in the Kibworth Community Library. The following were elected as officers of the society

It's been a while since our last article. We have exciting news to share with you all. Kibworth Ladies Choir are busy rehearsing for our annual concert - KLC does Rock!

Kibworth & District u3a’s new group, entitled Pot Luck, made its first excursion to the Kibworth Harcourt Post Mill.

The Leicester and District Ramblers have just published their walks programme for the second half of 2025. This is their most comprehensive programme yet, and includes 10 different walks, with lengths varying from 4 to 14 miles.

Our bowling season is now fully underway with our men’s and ladies’ league teams playing their fixtures, together with friendly matches on Thursday and Saturday afternoons. All the club competitions for our various trophies have been organised and matches are being arranged. Spectators are always very welcome. Watching matches from our sunny terrace is a really nice way to spend an afternoon or evening.

At our annual exhibition held on the weekend of 31 May/1 June, Kibworth Art Lovers were proud to display a wide range of art by our talented local artists. We were again delighted with the community support. Over 220 visitors viewed paintings of flowers, urban and country scenes, portraits, seascapes and more. The public vote for favourite painting went to Pat Porteous’s ‘Balcony in Venice’ (shown below).

Illston on the Hill WI discussed the resolution at their latest meeting ‘Bystanders can be Lifesavers'. There are over 30,000 ‘out of hospital’ cardiac arrests per year in the UK. Less than one in ten people survive. This is why the WI urge the training and delivery of CPR, and to work with local organisations to help improve access to defibrillators in their communities, to give every person the best chance of surviving a cardiac arrest. Needless to say when put to the vote at Illston, it was unanimously agreed to carry forward the resolution to the Annual Meeting.
