Kibworth Band
Kibworth Band enters the final months of 2026 with a renewed sense of purpose, shaped by both meaningful tradition and significant change. As ever, the band’s commitment to serving the local community remains at the heart of its work, and this year’s preparations for Remembrance Sunday have carried particular poignancy. The band will once again lead the village in honouring those who gave their lives, providing the music for the parade and service. An annual duty the players regard as one of the most important and humbling moments in their calendar.
Alongside this familiar rhythm of service, the band has also been navigating a major transition with the departure of Musical Director Brendan Caddy. Brendan’s time with Kibworth Band has been marked by musical ambition, warmth, and a clear sense of direction. His leadership brought consistency to rehearsals, lifted performance standards, and helped shape a confident, unified sound across the ensemble. Many players credit him with inspiring renewed pride in their playing and strengthening the band’s identity both on stage and within the wider brass band community.
Although his decision to step down was met with sadness, it has also been accompanied by deep gratitude. Brendan leaves as a close friend of the band, and his influence will continue to be felt long after his final downbeat. The committee has already begun work to ensure a smooth transition, with plans for guest conductors and a forthcoming recruitment process to appoint a new Musical Director.
As Kibworth Band looks ahead to Christmas engagements, contest ambitions, and new musical leadership, it does so with the same spirit that has carried it through generations: service, community, and a shared love of music.
