Burton Overy Village Show 2026

On Saturday 5 September, Burton Overy held its annual village show. The show was started as a produce show by Burton Overy’s Women’s Institute over a hundred years ago. The show now includes cookery, arts & crafts and children’s entries. There were 55 exhibitors, mostly from the village, but including family and friends of the village.

Despite the hot weather there was a good selection of produce and some beautiful flower arrangements. The Best in Show was an intricate miniature model of a house by Carol Lawrence. Best Floral exhibit was Judy Rollin. The aggregate cup went to Jo Taylor for the greatest success in all categories. The Children’s cup went to Hebe Gutteridge for a beautifully embroidered flower. The Ann Holden cookery trophy went to Sally Green for her marble cake.

The public were invited to view all the exhibits after the judging over a cup of tea and a piece of cake.

In the evening the village staged a new event, a “Soiree” which doubled as a celebration after the show and a chance for newcomers in the village to socialise, with a glass of fizz and nibbles.

Thanks go to Natasha Box and her team for making the whole day such a success.

We now look forward to our annual Christmas Tree Festival 4–6 December, all are invited.
