Harborough Singers @ 50

Next year it’s an unbelievable 50 years since ‘The Harborough Singers’ hit the World Stage. Oh, well, alright, it was actually a Salvation Army Hall in Willesden, North London – on 7th May 1977. A small beginning, but it sprouted great things. Half-a-century of fine music making and many, many, memories for many, many people.

If you are one of those people, someone who has sung with the choir at all over its fifty year history, the Singers would love for you to join them to celebrate. The date is 20 March 2027. Their plans so far include … err … singing and cake! Well, they famously love both so why not? Obviously, it will be special singing! With as many current and previous members of ‘The Harborough Singers’ as they can muster, coming together under the direction of the man who founded them all those years ago, Barry Clark, to workshop some pieces for performance at the end of the day. With cake breaks, obviously. And a post-performance party of some kind, so that old friends can all reminisce together. The exact details are still being worked out.

So, if you are an ex-Harborough Singer, or sang under Barry Clark at Robert Smyth School or whatever it was called when you were there, please ‘Save the Date’ of Harborough Singers Big 50th Birthday Bash – Saturday 20 March 2027.

Favourite venue. Most scary or silliest moment. Who knows? These recollections may inform the activities on 20 March 2027, or at other times during the choir’s Big Anniversary Year. The choir is keen to hear from all who have been involved, and who have helped make the group such a success over the years.
