The Medbourne Classic

The Medbourne Classic, a classic car show, is set to attract around 200-250 classic cars and 2,000 visitors. It is on Saturday 27 June, and raise funds for the RAF Benevolent Fund, The Royal Anglian Regiment Charity, Pancreatic Cancer UK and LOROS. It takes place at the Medbourne Sports and Social Club, Hallaton Road, Medbourne, and is one of only three officially recognised Armed Forces Day events in Leicestershire. The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Leicester will open the event.

The Medbourne Classic is organised by five Medbourne residents and two Committee members. It aims to become a regular fixture in the Medbourne Calendar and a strong fundraiser for military and other nominated charities.

Chairman Carl Blencowe, a former RAF officer, says ”The event and Armed Forces Day aim to recognise those who have served, are serving, and inspire the next generation. In our turbulent world, the role of the Armed Forces is increasingly important, so it’s fitting that we recognise and appreciate their role and sacrifices.

Who’s going to be there?

Annabels Farm and Roaming Giraffe cater for the day at the event. Annabels Farm offers home-reared beef and locally sourced British ingredients for festivals, events, and private gatherings. Roaming Giraffe, a family-run events company, caters for major events across the UK. It provides a diverse range of sustainably sourced and locally sourced food. The Nevill Arms, a boutique country hotel and pub in Medbourne, staff the outside beer bus and serve refreshments. This includes beers from the nearby Langton brewery.

Additionally, other attractions include a working aircraft engine, the Alvis Leonides, a full-size glider from Husbands Bosworth Gliding Centre, RAF Wittering, and RAF Re-enactors. Harborough FM, the local radio station, will provide music, event hosting, and interviews throughout the day. Various exhibitors will sell wooden crafts, leather goods, and clothing.

We’ve also been awarded a flypast from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. This will be a great way to celebrate Armed Forces Day and The Medbourne Classic.
