Fleckney & Kibworth Running Club
Members of the local running club have been busy competing in races and endurance events across the country over recent weeks. Producing a series of impressive performances from 10Ks to ultra-marathons.
At the Leicester Big 10K, Steve West led the club home in 61 minutes. Followed closely by Claire Preston in 63 minutes, Tracey Coates in 71minutes, Ruth Hughes in 84 and Karina Mottley in 94.
A special mention goes to Jim Hawley, who completed his first ever ultra-marathon at the Battle of Brampton Valley Way, covering 28 miles in an excellent time of 5:10:23.
Marathon runners were also in action at the Milton Keynes Marathon. Whhere Steve King finished in 3:24:31 and Adam Niblett completed his first marathon in 4:15:42.
Tracey Coates took on the iconic London Marathon, completing the challenge in 6:21. While also raising more than £1,200 for the Bodie Hodges Foundation charity.
Closer to home, runners enjoyed the Wymeswold Waddle, with Verity Catcheside finishing in 48:49 and Andy Kemp in 49:41.
Silverstone
At the Silverstone 10K, Kirit Patel produced a superb 1:00 finish. Followed by Fran Gould in 1:19 and Tom Gould in 1:26.
Sam Pole represented Leicestershire in the men’s team at the Inter-Counties Championship Mountain Race, tackling a demanding course featuring 3,000ft of ascent and helping the county team to 12th place out of 20 teams.
Several club members also competed in the Bosworth Half Marathon. Jonny Morgan achieved a personal best of 1:40. Bernadette Owen clocked 1:44 and was first in her age category. John Clampin finished in 2:03, Steve West completed the course in 2:19 and Fawzia Kauser finished in 2:22.
Elsewhere, Ellie Holland took on the challenging Canitrail Mountain Challenge among the steep hills of South Wales, while Lorna Muskett completed the Shires and Spires Ultra in a fantastic 5:50:59.
The club continues to see members challenge themselves across a wide variety of events, from local races to gruelling endurance challenges, with plenty of personal achievements to celebrate.
