Telraam Update

The figures for the three months to the end of February 2026 are now available on the Telraam site. This shows the density of traffic in Kibworth in five different locations:

Harcourt Estate (ie outside the Coach and Horses on the A6); Crouch’s (also on the A6 south of the New Road junction); Church Road; High Street and finally Fleckney Road.

The figures for four wheeled vehicles are as follows:

What can be deduced from these figures?

A large percentage of the traffic on the A6 at Crouch’s is definitely through traffic; it doesn’t necessarily originate in Kibworth.

February is a short month and had the school half term in it. December and January weekdays are adjusted for bank holidays.

Telraam measures the following categories of passing traffic:

Pedestrians, two wheels, cars, heavy vehicles, nighttime vehicles (all), total number of vehicles per day (figures shown above), percentage number of vehicles travelling at 31mph in a 30mph zone, daily number of vehicles speeding over 30mph, number of vehicles travelling at 43mph in a 30mph zone, number of speeding vehicles travelling at 43mph in 30 mph zone.

The figures below show what percentage are travelling at 43mph in a 30 mph zone except for Crouch’s where the limit on the A6 is already 40mph.  It is obvious to any lay person that the traffic measures in the village are slowing down the vehicles but on the A6 the number of vehicle exceeding the limit is already past a third of all vehicles.

What measures do we need to ensure the safety of people both on our roads and footpaths?
