Methodist Matters

Roy Bills(1928-2026)
Roy was called to preach in 1946, becoming a fully accredited local preacher in 1952. He lived in Tur Langton for 40 years before moving to Kibworth in 2000. After he retired from teaching, in 2021 he volunteered for the Citizens Advice Bureau, became a visitor at Gartree for the probation service and the parole service. He was a steward at our church for many years as well as taking a great interest in youth work and many aspects of the church’s Mission. He will be remembered by those at Kibworth Methodist Church and beyond for his strong faith and eternal cheerfulness. (visit YouTube-‘A conversation with Roy Bills’).
Easter Services
On Palm Sunday (29 March) we will once again be giving away Palm Crosses to all those attending our service.
We will be holding a ‘Reflection and Worship Around the Cross’ at 2.30pm on Good Friday. (3 April)
On Easter Sunday (5 April) we will be ‘Flowering the Cross’ which will be displayed in School Road after the Service. Bring along a few flowers to participate, or come along to watch.
This year, our Easter Communion will be held on 12 April, the Sunday after Easter.
Quinquennial Inspection
Each five years Methodist Churches have an inspection of their premises by an independent surveyor to ensure that they are being kept in a good condition by the local congregation. Kibworth’s inspection has just been carried out and we are pleased to report that the only work identified as being necessary is to replace the stop end of one of the gutters (likely cost £10)!
The Preachers Prayer
“Lord, fill my mouth with worthwhile stuff and nudge me when I’ve said enough.”
Charles Dickens
“The New Testament is the very best book that ever was or ever will be known in the world.”
