Year 1 Grandparents at Kibworth CE Primary School

In February, Year 1 enjoyed a truly special afternoon sharing old toys with their grandparents. The children were captivated by the stories behind the toys and discovered fascinating insights into how games and play have changed over time.

From trying out a sewing machine and playing with trains on a traditional train track, to looking through old books, the children learned so much about the differences between toys from the past and those they enjoy today. It was wonderful to see their curiosity spark as they explored, listened carefully, and asked thoughtful questions. The excitement in the room was a joy to witness, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.

We would like to say a huge thank you once again to all the grandparents who joined us and helped make it such a memorable occasion.

Year 1 Basketball Success

A few weeks ago, a group of our Year 5 and Year 6 children competed in the local Market Harborough basketball tournament. Our players had been practising hard during most lunchbreaks since October, and their dedication truly paid off; they won the tournament without losing a single game and conceded only one point throughout the entire event!

On Tuesday 10 February, the team moved up to the next level: the South Leicestershire Finals. Once again, our players were brilliant. They went undefeated in the group stage and progressed confidently to the semi-finals, where we met Little Bowden Primary School.

It was an incredibly close game, going point-for-point until the very end. After moving into extra time, luck was on our side and we emerged victorious! In the final, we faced Glenmere Primary from Wigston. It was a hard-fought match, but we fell just short of the victory, finishing as runners-up.

As the winners of the Blaby and Harborough area and the second-best team in South Leicestershire, we have officially secured a place in the Leicestershire County Finals! The children were absolutely buzzing after the event and have already pledged to practise even harder in preparation for the finals. They made both me and Kibworth Primary School incredibly proud.

Well done to Isaac, Finley, Max, Archie, Ed and Freddie!
