Have you ever heard of the Kibworth & District u3a?

Have you ever heard of the Kibworth & District u3a?
It was started about 18 years ago by the late Frank Griffiths. Kibworth’s u3a is open to anyone who is not working full-time.
Each u3a is run by a team of volunteers who help group leaders plan fun activities for its members. Including activities such as playing table tennis, playing Bridge, having lunch at different places or visiting interesting spots.
The monthly talk is a great way to meet other members, and last month’s meeting was especially popular. In January, the well-known actor Tony Harris came to share the life story of Donald Trump, dressed as the president. It was thoroughly entertaining.
Then in February, Tom Ingall spoke to a nearly full house (mostly men, as it turns out) about the history of the Great Central Railway and its current Reunification project which will join together the Leicester branch of the heritage railway with the Nottingham branch creating one of the longest heritage railways in England. Tom spoke enthusiastically for a full 75 minutes (a lot longer than most talks, but it was so interesting) without notes, demonstrating how passionate he was about the subject.
For the March meeting, in Kibworth Community Hub on Tuesday 17 March at 2pm the talk is entitled “You cannot be serious” when Alan Grey will regale tales of a Wimbledon Umpire, 1988 – 2012.
For your information the April talk is by Dave Pinion – “Antarctica in the steps of Scott and Shackleton”. This is due to take place on Tuesday 21 April at 2pm.
If you are not a member please do come along and see and hear what we are about. It will only cost you £1 per visit. Refreshments will also be available.
