What’s going on

Now you see it, now you don’t!

We have noted the men’s hairdressers, ‘ANDI SON ‘on the Square has now disappeared. It seems to have been here for only four months.

Pavements

As a pedestrian walking around the village, I noticed that the pavements are in very poor condition. Debris from leaves/branches has turned into a sludgy mulch. It is as if the gutter maintenance of these is something from ancient history.

EV charging points

‘Co-op’ car park will soon be having some EV charging points.

Scouts at the old Library

It is pleasing to learn that the lease of the library has been extended by a further six month to allow the Scouts to continue to use these premises. The county council apparently wants to sell the building and the land it stands on. Any philanthropic reader fancies helping out?

New Scout Hut on ‘Scout Land’ (see 25/01744/FUL). Perhaps a candidate for Crowd- funding? As a community Kibworth could show everyone else how to create a real community asset.

Nevill Holt Festival

‘Nevill Holt Festival’ will be on again this summer from 29 May to 21 June 2026.

New ‘silent’ trains on the track?

Have you seen and possibly not heard the new quieter trains, the bi-mode Hitachi Aurora (Class 810) rushing through Kibworth using the overhead cables? Currently, there are a few sets of them in use and more will be introduced very soon. They are replacing the noisy diesel Class 222 (Meridian units) which are to be returned to the company from which they are leased.

‘Kibworth Working Men’s Club’ plans

I am sure interested readers will have seen the application to repurpose ‘Kibworth Working Men’s Club’ on Fleckney Road into eight dwellings and parking for 20 cars (25/01567/FUL). We wait with bated breath for Harborough District Council Planning Committee decision on this matter.
