Robin Hood Review
Dear Editor
Travelling to the other end of the County on a cold January night to see an amdram pantomime didn’t really appeal much. Nevertheless my wife and I found ourselves at Kibworth Community Hub to see Last Minute Theatre’s production of ‘Robin Hood.’
We soon forgot the long drive, however, as the show, the first written by Last Minute stalwarts Helen Cullinane and Nicole Lambert, started with a lively chorus of Robin Hood’s Merry Men.
After this we soon got to meet the excellent Robin Hood (Bridie Morton), Little John (Lillie Ford) and Maid Marian (Poppy Gibbins) as they began their battle of wits with the wicked Sheriff of Nottingham (Adam Statham).
The show contained all the familiar elements of a traditional pantomime with a blousy Dame (John Morton), two clueless brokers’ men (Helen and Nicole writing themselves the best comedy parts in the show!) along with music, slapstick, chase scenes and even an audience sing-along.
As we’d suspected all along, Robin and Little John eventually triumph and Robin gets to wed his Maid Marian.
Happy knowing that it had all turned out well in the end we started our journey home already looking forward to ‘Last Minute Theatre’s’ next production which we understand will be in September.
Look out for the publicity and make sure to come along to help support your local amateur dramatic group as they keep up the tradition of amateur theatre in Kibworth.
