Neighbourhood Policing – New Point of Contact

Strengthening community policing through enhanced Front Enquiry Office model
As part of our Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee, and our pledge to maintain a Front Enquiry Office (FEO) in every policing area, we are pleased to announce an important update to how we serve our communities.
From Monday 2 February, we will introduce a new operating model designed to improve accessibility, efficiency, and service delivery. This model includes:
- Standardised operating hours across all FEOs, based on community demand and needs
- A new digital service via GoodSAM, enabling virtual access over a free video call to a Local Support Team Officer, (LSTO), when a local desk is busy or temporarily closed
- Extended weekend opening hours at our three busiest sites; Mansfield House, Keyham Lane, and Beaumont Leys
For people of Market Harborough and the surrounding area, the FEO will be open Monday – Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Why This Matters
To support this model, we are recruiting new Local Support Team Officers (LSTOs). This will significantly reduce abstractions from frontline policing, by minimising the need for PCSOs to staff desks. In fact, this change will deliver an annual efficiency saving of approximately 10,000 PCSO hours by February 2027. These hours will be reinvested into neighbourhood policing, increasing operational capacity, improving service delivery, and enhancing visibility in our communities. For further information, visit your local neighbourhood team’s social media account or contact your local FEO by visiting: https://www.leics.police.uk/area/your-area/
