Kibworth Mead Academy

This term at KMA has been focussed on students’ next steps.
Year 11 have submitted their Post-16 applications. This is the culmination of a long process of careers guidance. It included work experience, writing personal statements, 1:1 interviews with our careers advisor and ongoing support over the year. Year 11 then all took part in a mock interview day, where 11 volunteers from the community interviewed them about their applications. The college offers are coming in thick and fast now, which has provided students with momentum as they prepare for their upcoming GCSEs which are hurtling towards them.
Year 9 are now preparing to make their first big decisions about their future as we start the GCSE options process. Year 9 families attended Options evening at the end of January, where they visited different stalls to learn about potential GCSE courses. Feedback from families was very positive, and parents and carers appreciated the opportunity to get guidance and support from teachers that know the students well. The following week was Year 9 parents’ evening, where students got specific feedback on their progress in their subjects, to allow them to make an informed choice. All this is linked to a tutor time programme focussed on career goals.
