“I love my dog as much as I love you, but you may fade – my dog will always come through”

– Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens)

There are so many of us that love dogs, especially in Kibworth it seems. There’s a veritable army of dog walkers every morning and evening whatever the weather. That is true love!

But dogs can be so much more than a loving companion, for many they are a lifeline. We are delighted to welcome Jane Bennett from Canine Partners to the library for a talk in March. Canine Partners is a registered charity that transforms the lives of people with physical disabilities by partnering them with assistance dogs and other highly trained dogs.

The dogs are trained to help with everyday tasks such as opening and closing doors, unloading the washing machine, picking up dropped items, pressing buttons and switches, and fetching help in an emergency. They can even help people to get undressed or remove a card from a cashpoint machine.

Jane will be with us on Tuesday 3 March. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets are on sale now for £6 and include refreshments.

We have had some interest for a Men Only Book Club but are still looking for a few more to make it work. We want it to be a group where men can talk about books, and other things, over a few refreshments. If you or someone you know might be interested in joining, please let us know on info@kibworthcommunitylibrary.org.uk
