Brian Thompson 1934-2026

It is with great sadness that we learnt about the passing of Brian Thompson on 16 January 2026.

Pat and Brian were valued members of the Kibworth Benefice family for many years, leading services at all three churches, until Brian’s health meant that they could no longer attend services. Pat then nursed Brian at their home at Stuart Court, where his funeral was held on 2 February.

Born in North Harrow, Brian trained as a land surveyor, before serving with The Royal Engineers in Arabia.

Upon his return, he retrained as a quantity surveyor and met Pat, his wife of over 60 years, they had 4 children. While living in Milton Keynes, which he helped to build, Brian was ordained and served his curacy in Bletchley. He then ministered as a vicar in Stoke-on-Trent until retirement. With Pat, he also carried out missionary work in Uganda, Tanzania and, undeterred by a heart attack, the south of France. He and Pat settled in Kibworth in 2012 and continued to serve the local community. Even a cardiac arrest did not stop him from helping out in Stuart Court chapel!

Their son Andrew described Brian as “a friend, mentor, leader and innovator to many throughout his life”.

He will be sadly missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
