The Fleckney and Kibworth Running Club
December marked the start of a number of festive gatherings, including the ‘Leicester City Centre Light Run’, a festive charity fun run at Wistow, and the club Christmas party. This year, we were lucky enough to offer members a prize draw thanks to the generosity of local businesses. A special thank-you goes to ’Bridge 67,’ ‘Kibworth Garden Centre’ ‘Rosie Made a Thing’, ‘Mollie Mae Cards’, ‘Elise Tear Sports Massage, and ‘Anita’s Holistic Health’ for their kind donations. A great night was had by all.
Some great races
Throughout November and December, members completed plenty of races. Bernadette Owen and Steve West ran the Salcey Forest 10k, finishing in 50:06 and 1:03 respectively.
Steve West and Joanne Raine completed the Shepshed 7 road race in 1:13 and 1:15 respectively.
Several members took on the muddy and wet ‘XC Huncote Hash’. Finishers included Bernadette Owen (58:09), Jim Hawley (1:02), and Emily Pierce, Gary Lawrence, and Fawzia Kauser, all finishing in 1:19.
The club also revisited a favourite challenge, ‘The Kibworth Round’. This involved two relay teams covering a circular route through the surrounding fields and trails near Kibworth. The Green Team claimed victory this time, and no doubt there will be more contests in the future.
Sam Pole and Leda Roodbaraky tackled both the ‘Litton Christmas Cracke’ and ‘Wormstones’ Fell Races, achieving strong results in both. Emma Boyd, Sam Pole, and Leda Roodbaraky also raced the ‘Baslow Bolt’, a fantastic fell race with excellent performances all round.
Several members completed the ‘Rutland Night 10k’, with the following results: Dan Pedley (58:49), Emily Pierce (1:04), Gary Lawrence (1:10), Tracey Coates (1:19), Fran Gould (1:19), and Ruth Hughes (1:27).
Four club members ran the ‘Seagrave Wolds Challen’, a 16-mile mixed-terrain race. Finishers were Lorna Muskett (2:32), Adam Niblett (3:03), Bernadette Owen (3:04), and Emma Boyd (3:17).
