Kibworth & Smeeton WI
Christmas Party
Our December meeting was our Christmas party, held at Kibworth Community Hub. To the Hub’s lovely decorations in the hall, we added beautiful table decorations made by a group of our members. Together with colourful tablecloths and napkins to create a warm Christmassy atmosphere.
Two long tables were filled with delicious savoury and sweet dishes. All prepared by our members for all of us to share. We just indicate on lists whether we are offering sweet or savoury items – no details. Somehow, it always works out and it’s amazing to see the variety of food that arrives on the night!
During the year we have a rota of members so that three ladies are hostesses for each monthly meeting, providing mouth-watering cakes and serving tea and coffee. Whislt, the committee hosts our Christmas party, serving drinks to the members at their tables.
With Christmas-themed music playing and a fun table quiz, we all enjoyed the food whilst chatting, and discussing our answers to the quiz. We also held a Secret Santa, and president Teresa Bottomley presented thank you gifts to the husbands who help us to set out and put away tables and chairs for our meetings and to talented member Wendy Food, who brings a stunning flower arrangement for the president’s table each month.
Earlier in the month three large sacks of knitted items for dementia patients at LRI were delivered to Amanda, our contact for the hospital. Originally working as a volunteer, her lovely manner with these patients, her dedication and enthusiasm resulted in her being offered a job. She was delighted with the cosy knee blankets, ‘twiddle muffs’ and tiny hand-held Paddington bears. We also sent premature baby blankets and tiny hats for the paediatric cardiology unit.
Into 2026
Looking forward we have a packed and varied programme for 2026. Or meetings are on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30pm in the Kibworth Community Hub.
Visitors are always welcome.
