Kibworth Band
Those Kibworth and District Chronicle readers who watched the Remembrance Day Parade and service in Kibworth will have noted a somewhat larger Kibworth Band leading the parade. Those extra bandsmen were members of our Youth Band. We were delighted with their participation, which will hopefully guarantee the continuation of the parade for years to come.
Over the summer months we have had to say goodbye to some of our members as they pursue their education and ambitions at university. Because of this the Band are currently seeking new players, particularly in the cornet section. As Kibworth continues to grow we often wonder if there are any musicians who have relocated to the area who might like to join us. Currently the Band is nationally graded as first Section. As of 1st January they will be promoted to the Championship Section. This will be a challenge for us and means that we will be seeking experienced players. This said, our youth groups who rehearse on a Monday evening before the Senior band give an opportunity for playing and learning. Indeed today’s Senior Band has several ex-youth band members in its ranks.
