Fleckney and Kibworth Running Club

Club members have enjoyed a busy and successful season.
Leicestershire Road Running League

The Leicestershire Road Running League continued with Watermead 10k, West End 8, Swithland 6, Steve Morris 5, Joy Cann 5, Markfield 10k, and concluded with Rotherby 8. The club achieved fantastic results, with the vet men and women placed 3rd and 4th in their divisions. Special congratulations to Bernadette Owen, who finished 1st overall in her age category.
At the Market Harborough Carnival 10k, Steve King led the team in 43:30 and later ran the Cambridge Town & Gown 10k in 40:39, finishing 4th in his age group.
Race for Life

Ruth Hughes and Jenny McNair completed the Race for Life, raising funds for Cancer Research UK. Ruth also took part in the Macmillan Mighty Hike. Tracey Coates ran the Tolkien Trail, while Emily Pierce, Fawzia, and Tracey tackled 14 miles of the Malvern Midsummer Marathon. The Hoby Hop was another highlight, enjoyed by several members (and some dogs!).
Four members raced the Peak Raid Anytime Series in the Peak District, with Sam Pole and Leda Roodbaraky winning their categories, Emma Boyd placing 2nd, and Adam Niblett 12th. Sam, Leda, and Emma also ran the Ilam Fell Race, and Sam went on to complete the demanding Sedbergh Hills Fell Race, finishing 24th.

The annual Equinox 24 at Belvoir Castle saw two teams and two solo runners represent the club. Dozy F&Kersplaced 18th and F&Kers and Friends 47th in the small team category. Steve West ran six laps, Tracey Coates completed the day and night 10k with her inspiring mum, and Kat Lovelock achieved an incredible 11 laps despite stormy weather.
Leicester Half Marathon

At the Leicester Half Marathon and 10k, the club was well represented.
Half Marathon: Steve King 1:30, Lorna Muskett 1:42, Pete Bennett 1:54, John Clampin 1:56, Alastair Stewart 2:00, Dan Pedley 2:08, Jo Raine 2:29.
10k: Vince Brown 57:03, Steve West 1:01, Emily Pierce 1:06, Tracey Coates 1:14, Megan Lloyd 1:19, Fran Gould 1:22, Bekki Hector 1:23, Jenny McNair 1:27, Ruth Hughes 1:28.
Bernadette Owen took on the world-famous New York Marathon and delivered an incredible performance, crossing the line in 3:51:53 — a truly inspiring achievement!
Emma Boyd
