Cheese & Pickle

Located on a scenic rural site in Great Glen, ‘Cheese and Pickle’ has become a valued destination for those seeking quality produce, thoughtful gifts, and friendly service. Owned by one time Kibworth residents sisters Sam and Sarah, the shop has continued to develop since they took it over in 2023, building on the strong foundations already in place. The shop was originally owned by another Kibworth resident, Kate Foster.

Location, Location, Location

The pair were drawn to the location of the site. Set beside open fields and neighbouring a popular café and well-loved pet supplies shop. “The setting is a real asset,” Sam explains. “Visitors can enjoy a meal at the café, browse our shop, and stop by Indi pet shop.”

Local Produce

Part of the appeal is the stock on the shelves. Hambleton bread, Joseph Morris meats, local honey, and Brockleby pies are just a few of over 40 local suppliers on offer, plus a well-stocked cheese counter of course!

Looking ahead, they hope to welcome even more visitors from nearby villages and continue strengthening the friendly, personal experience customers already enjoy.

When asked for advice for younger people who are keen to become business owners, Sarah emphasises the importance of commitment. “Be prepared to work hard, be flexible, and genuinely care about your customers,” she says. “You don’t need to have everything figured out from the start, just be willing to learn as you go.”

With its combination of local produce, friendly service, and a thriving site of neighbouring businesses, ‘Cheese and Pickle’ stands as a great example of an independent shop with community at its heart.
‘Cheese and Pickle’ at Pennbury is open 9.30am till 4pm seven days a week.
