Burton Overy Village Show
Burton Overy Village Show took place on Saturday 30 August.
There were 60 entrants. The entries varied from garden produce to flower arrangements, arts and crafts to freshly baked cakes.
The show that was started over 100 years ago by the WI, attracted many of the villagers and their friends. In the afternoon the certificates and trophies were handed out. In the evening there was a ‘soiree’ for the winners to celebrate, but more especially to invite newcomers to the village to get to know those who already regard this village as a special place. In addition to raising some funds for the village Hall, £100 was raised for the cancer charity, Mesothelioma UK. The Village Show continues to retain a special place in the village calendar.
‘Best in Show’ was an outstanding pastel portrait of dogs by Adrienne Vaughan.
