All change for the Spinners

Your local table tennis club; (all welcome – your first session free); has found a temporary home in the main hall at Kibworth Mead Academy because Fleckney Sports Centre is shortly(?) to be demolished and a fancy new building, with three times the space for table tennis, will, in due course, take its place. Our youngest player is eight and the oldest 76. We accommodate absolute beginners coaching them up to League level if they wish. From Wednesday 3 September, coaching, practice and League matches will all be held on Wednesday nights. Beginners are at 7pm and improvers at 7.45pm. Coaching continues until 8.30pm and free play till 10pm.

Elbow Tankard Competition

The summer League matches began with a 19/1 defeat for our second team, struggling against Division 1 and Division 2 players’ spin serves. A 16/4 defeat against Abbotts Road followed this, who also had a very strong team. Another defeat against Fox Flix (5/15) followed, although we did have the opposition worried. Finally, there was a good win against GPG 13/7. Everyone played their part but the standout player was Drew Harbidge. There was a comprehensive win against Desford (16/4) and another defeat but with a much better score (6/14) in our second match with Abbotts Road.

We lost the following match against the Foxes (15/5) with some very close games, but Fleckney trounced Knighton Park 17/3 which cheered us all up! The latest League tables show we are still in the mix for best runner-up.Contact Miriam 07890 950087
