Table Tennis
Free Open Evening on Monday 2 June 2
Coaches Andy Wright and Miriam Wohl are offering a free coaching night to anyone between the ages of 8 and 108 who would like to try table tennis for the first time, or return to it following a gap. There is coaching every Monday: 6.45pm to 7.30pm (beginners); 7.30pm to 8.15pm, with open practice from then until 9pm. The only exception is the Bank Holiday Monday (26 May). The last coaching session will be on Monday 30 June. In the meantime, we have practice sessions every Wednesday night, 7- 9pm, throughout May and June.
Annual Club Tournament
The second Annual Club Tournament was held on 9 April. Danny Barker was winner in the under-11 category. James Feakes was winner and Omar Morsy runner-up in the ‘under-77’ handicapped contest.
League Results
Fleckney-1 scored a slam dunk against Knighton Park-11 (KP11) with a score of 8/2. Fleckney-4 suffered a narrow defeat (4/6) against Syston. Then there was a splendid win for Fleckney-3 against the Nomads (8/2). This enabled us to climb above them in the final League table, with Naresh Shah involved in a lot of long, deuce games. There was a 5/5 draw for Fleckney-4 against KP13. The season finished with three close games for Lennon Devlin and a great effort in the doubles. Fleckney-2 drew with Nomads-2 in the final match of the season on 10/04/25. This moves us off the bottom of the table in Division 4.
Elbow Tankard
This summer season is played on a handicapped basis. League players who have gradings can compete. The contest is usually held in August. We are all practicing hard for an even better showing than last year’s.
