Letter: Marsh Drive – is it a cut through?
Dear Editor
March Drive – is it a cut through?
I’m not sure if anyone else has noticed the number of +7.5 tonne trucks using Marsh Drive as a cut-through? There is a 7.5 tonne weight limit in force, as is in Main Street, etc., but this has no effect as it is being ignored. I understand why this is used as a shortcut to and from the A47 as the alternative adds 20 or 30 minutes to the journey. The one saving grace is generally that the truck drivers respect the speed limit of 30 mph; however, tractors appear to be exempt from adhering to speed limits as they appear to attempt to pass through the village as quickly as the vehicle will go, even when towing loaded 40′ trailers.
Please slow down and have a thought for the residents.
I would like to propose that the KHPC and KBPC impose a 20 mph speed limit throughout the village either side of the A6.
