“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.” ~ Walt Disney

As summer approaches it’s time once again for the Summer Reading Challenge for children aged four to eleven. This year’s is called “Story Garden – Adventures in Nature and the Great Outdoors”. This exciting new theme will inspire children to tap into a world of imagination through reading, exploring the magical connection between storytelling and nature.

The annual Summer Reading Challenge is delivered in partnership with public libraries across the UK, and it’s free for children to take part. Throughout the summer, children joining Story Garden can discover new books and explore the link between reading and the great outdoors, where nature and imagination come together.

The Summer Reading Challenge – is a great way to keep them reading throughout the summer holidays and they can earn rewards too.

This year’s challenge begins on Saturday 5 July and runs till Saturday 13 September. Just come into the library to sign up your children and get their special collector’s folder. They can read books, comics, magazines, ebooks – everything counts!

And keeping the nature theme going, our annual Plant Sale is on Saturday 21 June from 10am till they are all gone. Plenty of beautiful plants including lupins, geraniums, pelargoniums, lavender, hostas – the list goes on and on…..do not miss it!

Our Book Sales continue over the summer and are on 5 July (a week earlier than usual), 9 August and 13 September. Get the dates in your diaries.

Wishing you all a lovely, sunny summer.
