Kibworth Art Lovers

Annual Exhibition

At our annual exhibition held on the weekend of 31 May/1 June, Kibworth Art Lovers were proud to display a wide range of art by our talented local artists. We were again delighted with the community support. Over 220 visitors viewed paintings of flowers, urban and country scenes, portraits, seascapes and more. The public vote for favourite painting went to Pat Porteous’s ‘Balcony in Venice’ (shown below).

A record number of paintings were sold along with cards and browsers, and as a result of the raffle, we were able to donate £187 to the local charity, GEMS. We would like to thank all our visitors for their support.

As a memorial to Peter Carter, a valued member of our Society, Mary Carter loaned two of his stunning sculptures for display at the exhibition. Following this, on Saturday 28 June, we are invited to sketch in Peter and Mary’s garden, where more sculptures are featured among the shrubs and flowers.

Next Meeting

Our next meeting is on Tuesday 24 June, 7pm at the Community Hub Lounge. It will be led by professional artist and educator, Sue Clegg, who will talk about her Sketchbook Travels. Sue creates site specific work, including both urban and rural locations, combining a range of media. We can look forward to an energetic and inspiring evening. Visitors and new members are warmly welcome.

At the Kibworth branch of the MHBS works by Nan Whiteway are on display throughout June. To be followed by those of Pat Porteous in July and Shirley Hardy in August.
