Local National Garden Scheme Open Gardens 2024

Locally there are three lovely spring gardens to visit during April which are taking part in the National Garden Scheme (NGS) open gardens.

7th April – Stoke Albany House

Opening on Sunday 7 April, 2-5pm is Stoke Albany House, Desborough Road, Stoke Albany LE16 8PT a wonderful spring garden full of colourful bulbs and blossom. A 4 acre country house garden with trees, shrubs, wide herbaceous borders, parterre with box and roses. There is also a Mediterranean garden, a heated greenhouse, potager with topiary, a water feature garden and sculptures.

28th April – Westbrooke House

It is Tulip time at Westbrooke House, 52 Scotland Road, Little Bowden, LE16 8AX which opens Sunday 28 April, 10am – 4.30pm. The walled garden features a wonderful show of over 10,000 tulips making a fantastic display. The spring garden features ‘Sid the stag’ with a woodland area to the front of the property which includes a large weeping willow and a river bridge leading to a folly. There is a slate water feature and rill, a secret garden with a fernery and water feature.

28th April – Tresillian House

Also opening on Sunday 28 April from 11am – 6pm is Tresillian House, 67 Dalby Road, Melton Mowbray, LE13 0BQ. A quiet secluded garden with beautiful cedar trees, a pond, a natural bog area, many unusual plant species, hot and cold greenhouses and a veg plot. Pond experts Wild Water Ponds will be on hand to give advice. There is also a small art exhibition by local artists. Light refreshments and cream teams will be on sale.
