St Wilfrid’s Church

St. Wilfrids Church May

The Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey

The Coronation Service will take place on the morning of Saturday, 6 May at Westminster Abbey. St Wilfrid’s Church Hall will be open if people would like to come together to watch the televised service. The times are due to be announced soon.

The Coronation Big Lunch

Neighbours and communities across the United Kingdom are invited to share food and fun together at Coronation Big Lunches on Sunday 7 May. This is a nationwide act of celebration and friendship. The aim is bringing people together to boost community spirit, reduce loneliness and support charities and good causes.

St Wilfrid’s Church invites you to come along from 12.30pm. Please bring food items to share or your own picnic if you prefer. If the weather permits we will be outside enjoying the sunshine, so bring chairs or a picnic blanket. If it’s chilly or wet we’ll be in the Church Hall.

The Big Help Out - Can you lend a Hand?

To mark HM Majesty The King’s Coronation thousands of organisations across the country are getting together. Giving us all the chance to help out in our own local communities. The objective is to raise awareness of volunteering throughout the UK and provide opportunities for people to experience volunteering and make a difference in their communities.

The 1st Kibworth Scout Group is teaming up to help St Wilfrid’s Church. We will be having a Big Clear & Tidy on Bank Holiday Monday 8 May from 10am – 12 noon. The Scouts have very kindly offered to organise tea and biscuits in the Church Hall. St Wilfrid’s will provide bin bags and washing facilities. It would be helpful if volunteers can bring their own gloves to save using disposables.

We will be focusing on:

  • clearing an area inside the church in preparation for our proposed disabled access
  • cutting back and clearing overgrown shrubs in the churchyard
  • clearing clutter from behind the hall
  • general cleaning in the church and hall

We would also welcome a couple of volunteers to bring cars and be willing to do some tip runs. Much easier now that we have our Kibworth tip open again!

Everyone is welcome to join in.
