Smeeton Westerby collects old car batteries

Local Smeeton Westerby resident Bob Capell had an idea before the first locked down to collect old car batteries to weigh them in for cash for GEMS Charity. Eighteen months later this came to fruition. Andy from GEMS and Bob packed up Bob’s truck and went to a scrap metal dealer in Market Harborough unloaded. They unloaded the truck and were presented with a check for £328.48, what a fantastic amount well done and thanks Bob.

Collecting nonferrous metals

Bob’s latest idea is to collect nonferrous metals from around the village and again turn it into cash. So, if you have any of the following, copper, aluminium, lead, zinc, tin and more old car batteries that you want to get rid of please let us know on the number below.
