Spinners Wednesday Nights
Join us for Table Tennis
Why not come along at 7pm and give table tennis a go? The first session of this low-cost sport is free.
Coaches Andy Wright and Miriam Wohl have been working hard coaching up the 14 (!) players we were able to add to our league squads. Our first match at Kibworth Mead Academy was remarkable, in that all six players were playing their first senior league game and all were juniors. The home side, Fleckney 6, emerged as comfortable 8-2 winners over new club, Evington, with a maximum from Jacob Sansome and doubles from Jaiden and Dylan Curry.
Fleckney 5 (Rob Logan, Nick Plews and Csanád Hajgato) made a fighting effort to gain a point against Leicester Tennis & Squash Club 2 (LTSC2), the team which may well prove to be the best in the league. Meanwhile F1 beat Winstanley Wizards 1 (WW1) 8-2 in Division 2 and well done to Andy Haddon winning a game playing up from a lower division, as Division 2 is a pretty high level! F4, with newcomers Liam and Graeme Rowe, gaining a point against a very experienced WW5, and it was nice to see Matt Tattershall back playing.
LTSC at the top of the early table. Jacob Sansome retained his 100% record for Fleckney 6 to become Player of the Match.
Monday’s opening match on 28 September saw league leaders Leicester Squash & Tennis Club easily beat Fleckneyv5, 9-1, with Nick Plews avoiding the whitewash for us. On Wednesday visitors KP15 inflicted a first defeat on Fleckne 6, 8-2, with Jacob Sansome taking two for the home side.
In Thursday’s final game of the week, Nomads 2 drew 5-5 with WW6 in a close contest where everyone contributed, and no one scored a maximum.
And finally, our hard-working Chairperson, Bob Palmer, egged on by the ever-enthusiastic Miriam Wohl have secured a grant of £7,500 for new tables and other equipment for the new Sports Hall, the current status of which is pictured here.
