Kibworth Community Hub (Grammar School Hall) 90th Birthday Celebrations

The two Kibworth Parish Councils and the Kibworth & District Heritage Society arranged a celebration of the 90th birthday of the Community Hub’s building on the Friday 18 September. This was the exact date in 1936 that the building was opened and used by pupils of the Kibworth Beauchamp Grammar School.

Over 60 people, including ex teachers, pupils and trustees attended a celebration tea. The group were able to view a display of pictures and photographs which were originally at the school, together with a collection of photographs and memorabilia from the estate of Roger Garratt, who sadly died earlier this year.

The display was also well attended by the public who were able to view the collection on Saturday 19 September.

Andrew Munro, Chair of Kibworth Beauchamp Parish Council commented:

“This was a great occasion for all those previous students who met old school friends and were able to see the array of photographs illustrating images of this much-loved landmark school with a history dating back many centuries. Relatives of those who were involved with the construction completed in 1936 were astonished to see the work of their family members and were pleased that a celebration of this part of the Kibworth’s Heritage was so well attended. Additionally, everyone heard a little about the KBPC plans for development of the Community Hub rooted in the history of our village. Roger Garratt would have been very pleased with the success of the occasion.”
