Community Secret Santa Returns
With Books!
As Christmas approaches, The Well Kibworth is delighted to be joining forces with Kibworth Books once again for the annual Community Secret Santa appeal – a wonderful local initiative that helps bring a little extra Christmas magic to people and families in our community who may otherwise struggle to afford a gift.
The scheme was launched in 2024 by Kibworth Books in partnership with The Well. The idea is simple: generous local people make donations to create a fund which Kibworth Books then uses to choose thoughtful, individual gifts for local residents who have been identified as benefiting from some extra support at Christmas.
The Well helps identify recipients through its links with the Food Bank, local schools and care homes. Referrals are shared anonymously with Kibworth Books, allowing the bookshop team to select an appropriate gift for each person while protecting their privacy. The gifts are then distributed through The Well in time for Christmas.
The response from the community over the past two years has been fantastic. The first appeal raised more than £1,400, enabling around 60 bespoke Christmas gifts to be provided to local individuals and families. In 2025, a further £1,054.64 was raised, allowing another 54 recipients to receive a special Christmas gift.
The impact has gone beyond Christmas too. Money raised through the wider Pay It Forward scheme has supported local families, schools and community organisations, as well as providing books and resources to children and patients at Leicester hospitals.
Local people benefitting
Now in its third year, the appeal is back for Christmas 2026, with a target of raising at least £1,500. Every donation, however large or small, will help make sure that local people referred to the scheme can receive a gift chosen especially for them.
